Stretch Marks appear on the body in different places for different reasons. Stretch marks occur when the dermis, the middle layer of the skin, is stretched to a point where its elasticity begins to break down. As the dermis is stretched, the epidermis (which is the outer layer of the skin), also stretches, thereby leaving a visible scar on the skin, otherwise known as stretch marks.
Causes of stretch marks include weight gain, heavy weight lifting, pregnancy, using bleaching creams, stress, or even adolescence. Strech marks are commonly found on breasts, arms, thighs, stomach, and buttocks. Other uncommon places could be legs and backs.
